Miami is the busiest cruise port in the US, which means if you are heading on a cruise vacation, odds are good that you may find yourself with some extra time in Miami before you sail. I always encourage my clients to arrive the day before their cruise just to be on the safe side. Sometimes travel delays happen and you don't want a delayed flight to be the reason you miss your entire vacation.
So if you find yourself with part of a day in Miami, head to South Beach and enjoy my walking tour! It will hit the highlights of that area and start your vacation off on a fun and yummy note!
Start at Lincoln Road Mall and explore the shops! Whether you want to go some window shopping, grab some fresh fruit for a snack, or people watch, this is a vibrant and fun place to start your walk. Head east on Lincoln Road until you hit the beach.

Once you hit the beach, kick off your shoes and enjoy a stroll along the shore. No matter what time of year you are cruising, the weather is likely to be gorgeous at the beach! If you're lucky, you'll even be able to watch some other cruise ships leave the port!
Keep an eye on the beach weather here.
Exit the beach at 10th Street and walk north along Ocean Drive to enjoy the Art Deco Historic District. You can even pop by the Art Deco Welcome Center for more information on the area.

The Versace Mansion at 1116 Ocean Dr is now called The Villa Casa Casuarina and is run as a hotel and restaurant (yes, you can pop in and look around!).
Head west on 16th St and have dinner at Time Out Market! With 17 different kitchens and 3 bars, you'll find everything from local vegan fare, homemade ice cream, pho, Cuban dishes, and even signature kitchens from local star chefs. No matter what you're in the mood for or what special dietary needs you have, you will find some of the best food in Miami all in one spot right here. The hardest part will be deciding what to eat! My advice: get several options and share!
