Can I be honest with you? I never wanted to go to an all-inclusive resort. I’d even told Jo more than once that I never wanted to go to one. Ever. So when she earned a 5-day, 4-night trip to Moon Palace, Cancun, Mexico an all-inclusive beach resort, I said, “I’ll pass.” I know what you’re thinking. What a party pooper!
So, Jo invited her youngest sister to go with her. Which was great, because I wasn’t crazy about going to an all-inclusive beach resort. I had my reasons why I didn’t want to go (see a theme developing here?), but here are a few:
A Major Setback
But then, only two months before the trip, Jo’s sister backed out. And my poor wife was left without a travel buddy for the trip she worked so hard to earn. So she asked me to go. And because I love her so much, I said yes. Even though I didn’t want to go, which I think I mentioned.
A Converted Skeptic
At this point, I could wax eloquent about my reasons why I originally didn’t want to go. But who wants to hear all that noise? For now, let’s skip to the conclusion: I went with Jo to Moon Palace and had a blast!
So how did an all-inclusive resort skeptic like me become a convert? Keep reading to learn the things that won me over and read my review of Moon Palace Cancun.
Yes, I know I said that I don’t really care too much about what I eat. But the food at this place was amazing! I have loved Mexican food my entire life, so having a smorgasbord of Mexican dishes every meal was amazing.
And it wasn’t just tacos and burritos and chips. It was legit Mexican food, lots of which I’d never eaten before. Some days, I still wake up dreaming that a Mexican breakfast buffet is waiting for me!
As much as I love my kids and as I much as I missed them, I wouldn’t trade our kid-free 5 days for anything. It was nice to do what we wanted, when we wanted, without considering whether the kids would enjoy an activity or not. And no, we didn’t leave them home alone. My mother-in-law stayed with them.
Yes, I Enjoyed Myself at Moon Palace!
Overall, our getaway trip to Mexico was amazing. On top of the things above, there is so much more I could talk about in a review of Moon Palace Cancun: The room was fantastic, the service was superior, the pool area was literally the coolest I’ve ever seen in person. And you could get chocolates or ice cream anytime you wanted it! Having now been to an all-inclusive resort, I'm itching to try another one!
If you've been on a cruise, but never to an all-inclusive resort, it is like a cruise — get great food and great activities — without the sea-sickness! If you’ve wondered whether an all-inclusive resort like the Moon Palace Cancun resort is for you or not, maybe it’s time to try one.
