This March, I’m headed to Universal Studios Orlando for my very first on-site travel agent training. However, it isn’t my first visit to Universal Studios. In spring of 2016, we took a family vacation to Orlando where we spent two days at Walt Disney World and two days at Universal Studios. As I look ahead to my March trip, I’ve been thinking about all the reasons to visit Universal Studios Orlando. And here are 4!
1. Harry Potter!!!!
As far as theme parks go, it is hard to find a more immersive experience than the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. These two areas are more than enough reason to plan a trip to Universal Studios Orlando.
Diagon Alley in Universal Studios is one is the most immersive theme park experiences I’ve ever had. It is truly amazing. And Hogsmeade Village in Islands of Adventure is just as cool.
Divided between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, you can take the Hogwarts Express between them (this does require a Park to Park ticket). Each area has rides, restaurants, and Butterbeer!! You can even get your very own wand at Ollivander's.
Even if you aren't a huge Harry Potter fan, you'll appreciate the details, experiences, and the food in these two areas. The best time to visit Universal Studios Orlando Harry Potter is literally anytime!
2. Volcano Bay
The newly-opened water park is the third park at Universal Studios Orlando. Guests swim, splash, ride, dine, and relax in the shadow of Krakatau, a 200-foot-tall volcano. Opened on May 25, 2017, the park has rides like the Ko'okiri Body Plunge, a 125-feet tall body slide (the tallest in the nation).
At Volcano Bay, Universal has also introduced the TapuTapu wearable wristband. This multi-function, wearable tech holds your place in line and lets you pay for food, drinks, and merchandise with a registered credit card. The bands also activate interactive features around the park like water springs or lights.
3. Great Resorts
At Universal Studios Orlando, everything is fairly close together. Even the resorts are all close. But apart from their proximity to the parks, the resorts also offer unique accommodations for different budgets. And all of them have fantastic pools and tasty dining options. Some resorts even have themed rooms like Jurassic Park and Despicable Me. Universal is also developing two more value resorts to go with their existing higher-end resorts.
On top of all that, staying at a Univeral Studios hotel like Cabana Bay, Portofino Bay, or Hard Rock Hotel keeps you close to the action. All of the resorts offer complimentary transportation to the theme parks. Some of them even offer perks like early entry and a free Express Pass which lets you skip attraction lines.
4. Universal City Walk
Literally outside the gates of the theme parks is Universal City Walk. Dining, shopping, and entertainment are the theme here. When you've had your fill of rides, take in a show, shop for souvenirs, or eat at a unique restaurant like Bob Marley–A Tribute to Freedom.
Reasons to Visit Universal Studios Orlando
